Alyaksandr Milinkevich Goes to Chernobyl Zone

On April 21-25 the chairman of the Political council of the democratic forces of Belarus Alyaksandr Milinkevich is to carry out a voyage over the regions of the country affected after the Chernobyl nuclear power plant catastrophe. On April 21 Alayksandr Milinkevich is to visit Luninets and Stolin districts of Brest region, on April 22 Mozyr and Mozyr district, on April 23 Khojniki and Brahin districts, Brahin and Homel, on April 24-25 Slauharad and Cherykau districts of Mahilyou region.

The main aim of Milinkevich’s trip to different regions is to attract attention of Belarusian and international community to problems of ensuring radiation security of population, growing crops in contaminated areas which do not correspond to existing norms of radiation levels, and destruction of a state system of control over agriculture products cleanness.

Alyaksandr Milinkevich is set to turn attention of dwellers of the effected areas to unsatisfactory state policy in the sphere of social and medical protection of the contaminated areas population, about mistakes of the state policy in the sphere of health promotion and of sending of children from contaminated areas to rest abroad; to a necessity of public control and monitoring of the nature conditions.

During the meetings with the dwellers of contaminated areas, liquidators of the disaster, activists of he democratic movement Alyaksandr Milinkevich is to discuss reaction of the Belarusian civil society to the decision of Belarusian authorities to build an atomic power station in Belarus.
