Chernobyl Zone to Become Park

The deputies at Zhytomir oblast council initiate to create a national natural park in the Chernobyl zone, informed press-service of Zhytomir oblast council.

Zhytomir oblast state administration made a proposal to create a local landscape reserve ⌠Drevlyanskiy■ with a total square 40,000 ha in order to preserve variety and beauty of nature in the Chernobyl zone, particularly, in Narodichy district Zhytomir oblast.

The session ordered the state preservation of the environment department in the Zhytomir oblast and Narodichy district state administration to solicit for the Environment Ministry of Ukraine for creation of local landscape reserve ⌠Drevlyanskiy■ of Ukraine▓s national park.
Inquiry. Narodichy district in Zhytomir oblast suffered from the accident at Chernobyl nuclear power plant most of all. The most territories (plough-lands) became leas and forests there.

At the same time there are large forests, meadows and bogs in this district. These places have good flora and fauna. Also there are rare kinds of animals and plants which are registered in the Red Book of Ukraine.
