Chernobyl Exhibition in Moscow - “We wanty to remember”
02.12 2009

After the accident at the fourth unit of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, the largest man-made disaster in the history of mankind, it has been 23 years. The Chernobyl tragedy has affected all countries of the former USSR. An area of 160 thousand square kilometers was contaminated; the nuclear fallout affected the northern part of Ukraine, western Russia and Belarus. Years passed, generations and few of representatives of the new, XXI Century, know what happened on April 26, 1986.

However, there is even less known date - 14 December. On this day we honor liquidators - real heroes, that not sparing themselves, sacrificing their health, often - life, subdued a raging "peaceful atom" and to protect the world from its pernicious influence of the walls of the shelter. That this coincides with the anniversary exhibition "We want to remember", which takes place in Moscow on 02-13 December 2009, in exhibition hall  "Tvorchestvo" at the Taganskaya Street .

Exposition of the rarest photographs, video and documentary tell about the accident at the station, its effects and the tragic fate of the city Power Chernobyl - Pripyat. There are also presented stereo photographs, rare documental films are demonstrated. In addition, within the exhibition seminars on radiation literacy are featured.

For us this exhibition is another small contribution to the foundation of the idea of the city-museum.

In 2006 INGO Center PRIPYaT.kom "together with the editors of the newspaper" Literary Ukraine "were made with a very topical initiative - perpetual action for collecting signatures for the city of Pripyat the international status of the city-museum. Giving the status of historical and ecological reserve to the 10-15-km exclusion zone around Pripyat, including Chernobyl. Making it a monument of the greatest technological catastrophe of the planet. Such status would protect the town of Pripyat, from not only looters and vandals, but also from excessive damage of time.
We love and remember this city, its short blooming youth, its terrible fate, the present undercurrent of loneliness and hope that the Pripyat still be the future. We want you to see and remember it. We want the greatest man-made disaster in the world still made conclusions, and realized that even now, unfortunately, nobody is safe from its repetition. We wish that after visiting this exhibition, you could live like that behind you are not left ruins and dead cities.
