Children had their drawing and handicraft classes here. It was normal that children should have had at least two hours of dancing, singing, drawing or similar classes a day. Children were brought here by 8 am so that the parents could be at their workplaces in time. They had breakfast in the dining room, followed by the classes. Then they went for a walk, had their lunch, slept for an hour or two (I hated these siestas!), had another class or outdoor leisure and were picked by their parents between tea-time and dinner.
