Should the city of Pripyat be saved?:


December 14, in Ukraine is the «Day of honor of liquidators of the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster».

Many may have doubts, why need this holiday, and why 14 December is set to honor participants in liquidation.

Chernobyl Syndrome. France in denial or bucking the trend?

In France there is a strong sensitivity to what has been dubbed - after the 1986 nuclear disaster - the Chernobyl Syndrome. To much subsequent public mirth, the government back then announced that - though there was indeed a toxic cloud floating over Europe - the French need not worry because the Chernobyl fall-out had miraculously stopped at their borders.

Vasily Nesterenko died yesterday

Vasily Nesterenko was born 02.12.1934, in Krasny Kut village in Lugansk region, Ukraine. He was a scientist in the field of nuclear energy. Was a corresponding member of Belarus National Academy of Sciences (1972), Doctor of Science (1968), and professor (1969). He also was the Honored Worker of Science and Technology of BSSR (1979).

Volunteers are building houses for villagers

NPP News in brief

This is the 21st Desnay. Young nuclear workers from all Russian nuclear power plants, Obninsk, the State Technical University of Nuclear Energy (Obninsk), Ignalina NPP (Lithuania), Slavutich (Ukraine), Energoatom energy company (Ukraine), the Volgodonsk branch of the Southern Russian State Technical University are taking part in the festival this year.
